Storyline
Save Me 2 (2019): Since their town is set to be submerged to clear the way for a new dam, the pious residents of a rural village have put their trust in Choi Gyung Seok, a church elder who vows to resettle the congregation. Choi assures the villagers that once the town is fully underwater, they will construct a church and a new housing development where everyone can live together. He further claims that only 144,000 people can enter heaven, and that giving offerings to the church is required for anyone who wants to “secure their spot.” Even the town’s widely respected Reverend Sung, a young and handsome minister who appears able to heal the sick, endorses Choi’s plans. Yet beneath his show of piety, Choi is a seasoned con artist masquerading as a leader of a fabricated religion; his real goal is to cheat the villagers out of their resettlement compensation. The sole hurdle to the plot is Kim MinChul, a doubtful outsider who stumbles upon proof of Choi’s past wrongdoings and unexpectedly becomes the focal point of resistance against the church establishment.
